We introduce an algebra which describes the multiplication structure of a family of q-series containing a q-analogue of multiple zeta values. The double shuffle relations are formulated in our framework. They contain a q-analogue of Hoffman's identity for multiple zeta values. We also discuss the dimension of the space spanned by the linear relations realized in our algebra.
We study the inclusion system of the quantum deformed 2 dimensional Yang-Mills root module to the graded root module of the U-dual modular group. The irreducible representation of the U-dual modular group is the quantum deformed black brane throat. We expose the isomorphism between coherent superposition of the topological amplitude and the space of the automorphic forms of the U-dual modular group.

Equivalence of ELSV and Bouchard-Mariño conjectures for $r$-spin Hurwitz numbers
We propose two conjectures on Huwritz numbers with completed $(r+1)$-cycles, or, equivalently, on certain relative Gromov-Witten invariants of the projective line. The conjectures are analogs of the ELSV formula and of the Bouchard-Mari\~no conjecture for ordinary Hurwitz numbers. Our $r$-ELSV formula is an equality between a Hurwitz number and an integral over the space of $r$-spin structures, that is, the space of stable curves with an $r$th root of the canonical bundle. Our $r$-BM conjecture is the statement that $n$-point functions for Hurwitz numbers satisfy the topological recursion associated with the spectral curve $x = -y^r + \log y$ in the sense of Chekhov, Eynard, and Orantin. We show that the $r$-ELSV formula and the $r$-BM conjecture are equivalent to each other and provide some evidence for both.

The Euler-Riemann Gases, and Partition Identities
The Euler theorem in partition theory and its generalization are derived from a non-interacting quantum field theory in which each bosonic mode with a given frequency is equivalent to a sum of bosonic mode whose frequency is twice ($s$-times) as much, and a fermionic (parafermionic) mode with the same frequency. Explicit formulas for the graded parafermionic partition functions are obtained, and the inverse of the graded partition function (IGPPF), turns out to be bosonic (fermionic) partition function depending on the parity of the order $s$ of the parafermions. It is also shown that these partition functions are generating functions of partitions of integers with restrictions. If the parity of the order $s$ is even, then mixing a system of parafermions with a system whose partition function is (IGPPF), results in a system of fermions and bosons. On the other hand, if the parity of $s$ is odd, then, the system we obtain is still a mixture of fermions and bosons but the corresponding Fock space of states is truncated. It turns out that these partition functions are given in terms of the Jacobi theta function $\theta_{4}$, and generate sequences in partition theory. Our partition functions coincide with the overpartitions, and jagged partitions in conformal field theory. Also, The partition functions obtained are related to the Ramond characters of the superconformal minimal models, and in the counting of the Moore-Read edge spectra that appear in the fractional quantum Hall effect. The different partition functions for the Riemann gas that are the counter parts of the Euler gas are obtained by a simple change of variables. In particular the counter part of the Jacobi Theta function is $\frac{\zeta(2t)}{\zeta(t)^2}$.

Mathieu Moonshine and N=2 String Compactifications
There is a `Mathieu moonshine' relating the elliptic genus of K3 to the sporadic group M_{24}. Here, we give evidence that this moonshine extends to part of the web of dualities connecting heterotic strings compactified on K3 \times T^2 to type IIA strings compactified on Calabi-Yau threefolds. We demonstrate that dimensions of M_{24} representations govern the new supersymmetric index of the heterotic compactifications, and appear in the Gromov--Witten invariants of the dual Calabi-Yau threefolds, which are elliptic fibrations over the Hirzebruch surfaces F_n.

Fivebranes and 4-manifolds
We describe rules for building 2d theories labeled by 4-manifolds. Using the proposed dictionary between building blocks of 4-manifolds and 2d N=(0,2) theories, we obtain a number of results, which include new 3d N=2 theories T[M_3] associated with rational homology spheres and new results for Vafa-Witten partition functions on 4-manifolds. In particular, we point out that the gluing measure for the latter is precisely the superconformal index of 2d (0,2) vector multiplet and relate the basic building blocks with coset branching functions. We also offer a new look at the fusion of defect lines / walls, and a physical interpretation of the 4d and 3d Kirby calculus as dualities of 2d N=(0,2) theories and 3d N=2 theories, respectively.

ABJM Wilson Loops in Arbitrary Representations
We study vacuum expectation values (VEVs) of circular half BPS Wilson loops in arbitrary representations in ABJM theory. We find that those in hook representations are reduced to elementary integrations thanks to the Fermi gas formalism, which are accessible from the numerical studies similar to the partition function in the previous studies. For non-hook representations, we show that the VEVs in the grand canonical formalism can be exactly expressed as determinants of those in the hook representations. Using these facts, we can study the instanton effects of the VEVs in various representations. Our results are consistent with the worldsheet instanton effects studied from the topological string and a prescription to include the membrane instanton effects by shifting the chemical potential, which has been successful for the partition function.

Refined Chern-Simons theory and (q,t)-deformed Yang-Mills theory: Semi-classical expansion and planar limit
We study the relationship between refined Chern-Simons theory on lens spaces S^3/Z_p and (q,t)-deformed Yang-Mills theory on the sphere S^2. We derive the instanton partition function of (q,t)-deformed U(N) Yang-Mills theory and describe it explicitly as an analytical continuation of the semi-classical expansion of refined Chern-Simons theory. The derivations are based on a generalization of the Weyl character formula to Macdonald polynomials. The expansion is used to formulate q-generalizations of beta-deformed matrix models for refined Chern-Simons theory, as well as conjectural formulas for the chi_y-genus of the moduli space of U(N) instantons on the surface O(-p)--->P^1 for all p which enumerate black hole microstates in refined topological string theory. We study the large N phase structures of the refined gauge theories, and match them with refined topological string theory on the resolved conifold.
Non-perturbative effects and the refined topological string
The partition function of ABJM theory on the three-sphere has non-perturbative corrections due to membrane instantons in the M-theory dual. We show that the full series of membrane instanton corrections is completely determined by the refined topological string on the Calabi-Yau manifold known as local P1xP1, in the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit. Our result can be interpreted as a first-principles derivation of the full series of non-perturbative effects for the closed topological string on this Calabi-Yau background. Based on this, we make a proposal for the non-perturbative free energy of topological strings on general, local Calabi-Yau manifolds.

M-Strings
M2 branes suspended between adjacent parallel M5 branes lead to light strings, the `M-strings'. In this paper we compute the elliptic genus of M-strings, twisted by maximally allowed symmetries that preserve 2d (2,0) supersymmetry. In a codimension one subspace of parameters this reduces to the elliptic genus of the (4,4) supersymmetric A_{n-1} quiver theory in 2d. We contrast the elliptic genus of N M-strings with the (4,4) sigma model on the N-fold symmetric product of R^4. For N=1 they are the same, but for N>1 they are close, but not identical. Instead the elliptic genus of (4,4) N M-strings is the same as the elliptic genus of (4,0) sigma models on the N-fold symmetric product of R^4, but where the right-moving fermions couple to a modification of the tangent bundle. This construction arises from a dual A_{n-1} quiver 6d gauge theory with U(1) gauge groups. Moreover we compute the elliptic genus of domain walls which separate different numbers of M2 branes on the two sides of the wall.

On the 5d instanton index as a Hilbert series
The superconformal index for N=2 5d theories contains a non-perturbative part arising from 5d instantonic operators which coincides with the Nekrasov instanton partition function. In this note, for pure gauge theories, we elaborate on the relation between such instanton index and the Hilbert series of the instanton moduli space. We propose a non-trivial identification of fugacities allowing the computation of the instanton index through the Hilbert series. We show the agreement of our proposal with existing results in the literature, as well as use it to compute the exact index for a pure U(1) gauge theory.

Wild Wall Crossing and BPS Giants
We show that the BPS spectrum of pure SU(3) four-dimensional super Yang-Mills with N=2 supersymmetry exhibits a surprising phenomenon: there are regions of the Coulomb branch where the growth of the BPS degeneracies with the charge is exponential. We show this using spectral networks and independently using wall-crossing formulae and quiver methods. The computations using spectral networks provide a very nontrivial example of how these networks determine the four-dimensional BPS spectrum. We comment on some physical implications of the wild spectrum: for example, exponentially many field-theoretic BPS states with large charge are gigantic. Finally, we exhibit some surprising, thus far unexplained, regularities of the BPS spectrum.

3d dualities from 4d dualities
Many examples of low-energy dualities have been found in supersymmetric gauge theories with four supercharges, both in four and in three space-time dimensions. In these dualities, two theories that are different at high energies have the same low-energy limit. In this paper we clarify the relation between the dualities in four and in three dimensions. We show that every four dimensional duality gives rise to a three dimensional duality between theories that are similar, but not identical, to the dimensional reductions of the four dimensional dual gauge theories to three dimensions. From these specific three dimensional dualities one can flow to many other low-energy dualities, including known three dimensional dualities and many new ones. We discuss in detail the case of three dimensional SU(N_c) supersymmetric QCD theories, showing how to derive new duals for these theories from the four dimensional duality.
Double Handled Brane Tilings
We classify the first few brane tilings on a genus 2 Riemann surface and identify their toric Calabi-Yau moduli spaces. These brane tilings are extensions of tilings on the 2-torus, which represent one of the largest known classes of 4d N=1 superconformal field theories for D3-branes. The classification consists of 16 distinct genus 2 brane tilings with up to 8 quiver fields and 4 superpotential terms. The Higgs mechanism is used to relate the different theories.
Dimensions of Imaginary Root Spaces of Hyperbolic Kac--Moody Algebras
We discuss the known results and methods for determining root multiplicities for hyperbolic Kac--Moody algebras.
Extremal loop weight modules and tensor products for quantum toroidal algebras
We construct new families of extremal loop weight modules for the quantum toroidal algebras of type A as tensor products of simple $\ell$-highest weight modules and simple $\ell$-lowest weight modules. This construction involves the Drinfeld "coproduct" and related techniques [10, 15]. In general, we conjecture that extremal loop weight modules can be obtained by this process. We prove this conjecture in the following case: we get extremal fundamental loop weight modules, also called specialized vector representations, recently constructed by Feigin-Jimbo-Miwa-Mukhin [10] and the author [25]. Eventually we define new extremal loop weight modules by tensor products of extremal fundamental loop weight modules. By specializing the quantum parameter, we obtain finite-dimensional modules at roots of unity for quantum toroidal algebras.

Zeros of weakly holomorphic modular forms of level 4
Let $M_k^\sharp(4)$ be the space of weakly holomorphic modular forms of weight $k$ and level $4$ that are holomorphic away from the cusp at $\infty$. We define a canonical basis for this space and show that for almost all of the basis elements, the majority of their zeros in a fundamental domain for $\Gamma_0(4)$ lie on the lower boundary of the fundamental domain. Additionally, we show that the Fourier coefficients of the basis elements satisfy an interesting duality property.

Dijkgraaf-Vafa conjecture and beta-deformed matrix models
We study the beta-deformed matrix models using the method of refined topological string theory. The refined holomorphic anomaly equation and boundary conditions near the singular divisors of the underlying geometry fix the refined amplitudes recursively. We provide exact test of the quantum integrality conjecture in the Nekrasov-Shatashvili limit. We check the higher genus exact formulae with perturbative matrix model calculations.
q-deformations of two-dimensional Yang-Mills theory: Classification, categorification and refinement
We characterise the quantum group gauge symmetries underlying q-deformations of two-dimensional Yang-Mills theory by studying their relationships with the matrix models that appear in Chern-Simons theory and six-dimensional N=2 gauge theories, together with their refinements and supersymmetric extensions. We develop uniqueness results for quantum deformations and refinements of gauge theories in two dimensions, and describe several potential analytic and geometric realisations of them. We reconstruct standard q-deformed Yang-Mills amplitudes via gluing rules in the representation category of the quantum group associated to the gauge group, whose numerical invariants are the usual characters in the Grothendieck group of the category. We apply this formalism to compute refinements of q-deformed amplitudes in terms of generalised characters, and relate them to refined Chern-Simons matrix models and generalized unitary matrix integrals in the quantum beta-ensemble which compute refined topological string amplitudes. We also describe applications of our results to gauge theories in five and seven dimensions, and to the dual superconformal field theories in four dimensions which descend from the N=(2,0) six-dimensional superconformal theory.

Wall-crossing, Toric divisor and Seiberg duality
We study the wall-crossing phenomena of BPS D4-D2-D0 states on the conifold and orbifold C^2/Z_2, from the viewpoint of the quiver quantum mechanics on the D-branes. The Kahler moduli dependence of the BPS index is translated into the FI parameter dependence of the Witten index. The wall-crossing phenomena are related to the Seiberg dualities of the quiver quantum mechanics. All the differences from the D6-D2-D0 case arise from the additional superpotential and "anti-quark" induced by the D4-brane. When the D-branes are on the conifold, the flop transition changes the duality cascade. When the D-branes are on the orbifold C^2/Z_2, the generating function of the Witten index is always given by a character of the affine SU(2) algebra. Both are consistent with the wall-crossing formula for BPS indices.
Refined Chern-Simons versus Vogel universality
We study the relation between the partition function of refined SU(N) and SO(2N) Chern-Simons on the 3-sphere and the universal Chern-Simons partition function in the sense of Mkrtchyan and Veselov. For large N both refined Chern-Simons and universal Chern-Simons lead to a refined topological string on a conifold. The large N expansion for SU(N) explicitly shows the replacement of the virtual Euler characteristic of the moduli space of complex curves with a refined Euler characteristic related to the radius deformed c=1 string free energy.
