We consider new brane-like objects in F-theory consisting of the zero loci of the coefficient functions f and g of the Weierstrass equation, which we referred to as an "f-locus plane" and a "g-locus plane", collectively as "monodromifold planes". If there are some monodromifold planes, the base of the fibration is divided into several cell regions, each of which corresponds to a (half of a) fundamental region in the pre-image of the J function. A cell region is bounded by several domain walls extending from these monodromifold planes and D-branes, on which the imaginary part of the J function vanishes. If one crosses through a special kind of domain walls called "S-walls", the type IIB complex string coupling is locally S-dualized, leading to the simultaneous coexistence of a theory in the perturbative regime and its nonperturbative S-dual. Consequently, the monodromy of a 7-brane gets SL(2, Z) conjugated, and a D-brane is transmuted into a non-D (p, q)-7-brane. In the orientifold limit, the "locally S-dualized regions" shrink to infinitely small and not seen from outside. We find that in a wide range of parameters arises a bound-state-like cluster made of two D-branes and one g-locus plane. We also observe that the substructure of an orientifold plane is a "3-1-3" system consisting of two clusters, made of an f- and a g-locus planes and a D-brane, and a single g-locus plane. We also show that all the types of the Kodaira singularities are achieved by D-branes and monodromifold planes with a characteristic pattern of their configuration.
We study the inclusion system of the quantum deformed 2 dimensional Yang-Mills root module to the graded root module of the U-dual modular group. The irreducible representation of the U-dual modular group is the quantum deformed black brane throat. We expose the isomorphism between coherent superposition of the topological amplitude and the space of the automorphic forms of the U-dual modular group.

A 3d Gauge Theory/Quantum K-Theory Correspondence
arXiv:1808.02040
Hans Jockers, Peter Mayr
The 2d gauged linear sigma model (GLSM) gives a UV model for quantum cohomology on a Kahler manifold X, which is reproduced in the IR limit. We propose and explore a 3d lift of this correspondence, where the UV model is the N=2 supersymmetric 3d gauge theory and the IR limit is given by Givental's permutation equivariant quantum K-theory on X. This gives a one-parameter deformation of the 2d GLSM/quantum cohomology correspondence and recovers it in a small radius limit. We study some novelties of the 3d case regarding integral BPS invariants, chiral rings, deformation spaces and mirror symmetry.

In this paper, we study asymptotics of the thermal partition function of a model of quantum mechanical fermions with matrix-like index structure and quartic interactions. This partition function is given explicitly by a Wronskian of the Stieltjes-Wigert polynomials. Our asymptotic results involve the theta function and its derivatives. We also develop a new asymptotic method for generalq -polynomials.

Higher Width Moonshine
arXiv:1807.07210
Madeline Locus Dawsey, Ken Ono
Weak moonshine for a finite group G is the phenomenon where an infinite dimensional graded G -module
VG=⨁n≫−∞VG(n)
has the property that its trace functions, known as McKay-Thompson series, are modular functions. Recent work by Dehority, Gonzalez, Vafa, and Van Peski established that weak moonshine holds for every finite group. Since weak moonshine only relies on character tables, which are not isomorphism class invariants, non-isomorphic groups can have the same McKay-Thompson series. We address this problem by extending weak moonshine to arbitrary width s∈Z+ . For each 1≤r≤s and each irreducible character χi , we employ Frobenius' r -character extension χ(r)i:G(r)→C to define McKay-Thompson series of V(r)G:=VG×⋯×VG (r copies) for each r -tuple in G(r):=G×⋯×G (r copies). These series are modular functions. We find that complete width 3 weak moonshine always determines a group up to isomorphism. Furthermore, we establish orthogonality relations for the Frobenius r -characters, which dictate the compatibility of the extension of weak moonshine for VG to width s weak moonshine.

Monstrous Product CFTs in the Grand Canonical Ensemble
arXiv:1807.06200
Paul de Lange, Alexander Maloney, Erik Verlinde
We study symmetric products of the chiral 'Monster' conformal field theory with c=24 in the grand canonical ensemble by introducing a complex parameter \rho, whose imaginary part represents the chemical potential \mu conjugate to the number of copies of the CFT. The grand canonical partition function is given by the DMVV product formula in terms of the multiplicities of the seed CFT. It possesses an O(2,2;\ZZ) symmetry that enhances the familiar SL(2,\ZZ) modular invariance of the canonical ensemble and mixes the modular parameter \tau with the parameter \rho. By exploiting this enhanced modular symmetry and the pole structure of the DMVV product formula we are able to extend the region of validity of Cardy's formula, and explain why it matches the semi-classical Bekenstein-Hawking formula for black holes all the way down to the AdS-scale. We prove that for large c the spectrum contains a universal perturbative sector whose degeneracies obey Hagedorn growth. The transition from Cardy to Hagedorn growth is found to be due to the formation of a Bose-Einstein condensate of ground state CFTs at low temperatures. The grand canonical partition function has an interesting phase structure, which in addition to the standard Hawking-Page transition between low and high temperature, exhibits a wall-crossing transition that exchanges the roles of \tau and \rho.

Twisted deformations vs. cocycle deformations for quantum groups
arXiv:1807.01149
Gaston Andres Garcia, Fabio Gavarini
In this paper we study two deformation procedures for quantum groups --- namely, quantum universal enveloping algebras --- those realized as twist deformations (that modify the coalgebra structure, while keeping the algebra one), called "twisted quantum groups" (=TwQGp's), and those realized as 2-cocycle deformations (that deform the algebra structure, but save the coalgebra one), called "multiparameter quantum groups" (=MpQG's). Up to technicalities, we show that the two methods actually are equivalent, in that they eventually provide isomorphic outputs. In other words, the two notions of TwQG's and of MpQG's --- which, in Hopf algebra theoretical terms are naturally dual to each other --- actually coincide. Therefore, we conclude that there exists only one type of "multiparameter deformation" for universal enveloping algebras, that can be realized either as a TwQG or as a MpQG. In particular, the link between one realization and the other being just a (very simple, and rather explicit) change of presentation.

Compactifications of ADE conformal matter on a torus

Hee-Cheol Kim, Shlomo S. Razamat, Cumrun Vafa, Gabi Zafrir
In this paper we study compactifications of ADE type conformal matter, N M5 branes probing ADE singularity, on torus with flux for global symmetry. We systematically construct the four dimensional theories by first going to five dimensions and studying interfaces. We claim that certain interfaces can be associated with turning on flux in six dimensions. The interface models when compactified on a circle comprise building blocks for constructing four dimensional models associated to flux compactifications of six dimensional theories on a torus. The theories in four dimensions turn out to be quiver gauge theories and the construction implies many interesting cases of IR symmetry enhancements and dualities of such theories.

Siegel Paramodular Forms and Sparseness in AdS3/CFT2
arXiv:1805.09336
Alexandre Belin, Alejandra Castro, Joao Gomes, Christoph A. Keller
We discuss the application of Siegel paramodular forms to the counting of polar states in symmetric product orbifold CFTs. We present five special examples and provide exact analytic counting formulas for their polar states. The first example reproduces the known result for type IIB supergravity on AdS3×S3×K3 , whereas the other four examples give new counting formulas. Their crucial feature is that the low energy spectrum is very sparse, which suggests the existence of a suitable dual supergravity theory. These examples open a path to novel realizations of AdS3 /CFT2 .
