We find a new infinite class of infinite-dimensional algebras acting on BPS states for non-compact toric Calabi-Yau three-folds. In Type IIA superstring compactification on a toric Calabi-Yau manifold, the D-branes wrapping holomorphic cycles represent the BPS states, and the fixed points of the moduli spaces of BPS states are described by statistical configurations of crystal melting. Our algebras act on molten crystal configurations, hence on the BPS states contributing to the BPS degeneracy. We discuss the truncation of the algebra and its relation with D4-branes. We illustrate our results in many examples, with and without compact 4-cycles.

The deformed W algebras of type A have a uniform description in terms of the quantum toroidal gl1 algebra E. We introduce a comodule algebra K over E which gives a uniform construction of basic deformed W currents and screening operators in types B,C,D including twisted and supersymmetric cases. We show that a completion of algebra K contains three commutative subalgebras. In particular, it allows us to obtain a commutative family of integrals of motion associated with affine Dynkin diagrams of all non-exceptional types except D(2)ℓ+1. We also obtain in a uniform way deformed finite and affine Cartan matrices in all classical types together with a number of new examples, and discuss the corresponding screening operators.

The well-known modular property of the torus characters and torus partition functions of (rational) vertex operator algebras (VOAs) and 2d conformal field theories (CFTs) has been an invaluable tool for studying this class of theories. In this work we prove that sphere four-point chiral blocks of rational VOAs are vector-valued modular forms for the groups Γ(2), Γ0(2), or SL2(Z). Moreover, we prove that the four-point correlators, combining the holomorphic and anti-holomorphic chiral blocks, are modular invariant. In particular, in this language the crossing symmetries are simply modular symmetries. This gives the possibility of exploiting the available techniques and knowledge about modular forms to determine or constrain the physically interesting quantities such as chiral blocks and fusion coefficients, which we illustrate with a few examples. We also highlight the existence of a sphere-torus correspondence equating the sphere quantities of certain theories Ts with the torus quantities of another family of theories Tt. A companion paper will delve into more examples and explore more systematically this sphere-torus duality.

The monster sporadic group is the automorphism group of a central charge c=24 vertex operator algebra (VOA) or meromorphic conformal field theory (CFT). In addition to its c=24 stress tensor T(z), this theory contains many other conformal vectors of smaller central charge; for example, it admits 48 commuting c=12 conformal vectors whose sum is T(z). Such decompositions of the stress tensor allow one to construct new CFTs from the monster CFT in a manner analogous to the Goddard-Kent-Olive (GKO) coset method for affine Lie algebras. We use this procedure to produce evidence for the existence of a number of CFTs with sporadic symmetry groups and employ a variety of techniques, including Hecke operators and modular linear differential equations, to compute the characters of these CFTs. Our examples include (extensions of) nine of the sporadic groups appearing as subquotients of the monster, as well as the simple groups 2E6(2) and F4(2) of Lie type. Many of these examples are naturally associated to McKay's E8ˆ correspondence, and we use the structure of Norton's monstralizer pairs more generally to organize our presentation.

We consider special Lambert series as generating functions of divisor sums and determine their complete transseries expansion near rational roots of unity. Our methods also yield new insights into the Laurent expansions and modularity properties of iterated Eisenstein integrals that have recently attracted attention in the context of certain period integrals and string theory scattering amplitudes.

The interplay of nonlinearity and topology results in many novel and emergent properties across a number of physical systems such as chiral magnets, nematic liquid crystals, Bose-Einstein condensates, photonics, high energy physics, etc. It also results in a wide variety of topological defects such as solitons, vortices, skyrmions, merons, hopfions, monopoles to name just a few. Interaction among and collision of these nontrivial defects itself is a topic of great interest. Curvature and underlying geometry also affect the shape, interaction and behavior of these defects. Such properties can be studied using techniques such as, e.g. the Bogomolnyi decomposition. Some applications of this interplay, e.g. in nonreciprocal photonics as well as topological materials such as Dirac and Weyl semimetals, are also elucidated.

The maximally chaotic K-systems are dynamical systems which have nonzero Kolmogorov entropy. On the other hand, the hyperbolic dynamical systems that fulfil the Anosov C-condition have exponential instability of phase trajectories, mixing of all orders, countable Lebesgue spectrum and positive Kolmogorov entropy. The C-condition defines a rich class of maximally chaotic systems which span an open set in the space of all dynamical systems. The interest in Anosov-Kolmogorov C-K systems is associated with the attempts to understand the relaxation phenomena, the foundation of the statistical mechanics, the appearance of turbulence in fluid dynamics, the non-linear dynamics of the Yang-Mills field as well as the dynamical properties of gravitating N-body systems and the Black hole thermodynamics. In this respect of special interest are C-K systems that are defined on Reimannian manifolds of negative sectional curvature and on a high-dimensional tori. Here we shall review the classical- and quantum-mechanical properties of maximally chaotic dynamical systems, the application of the C-K theory to the investigation of the Yang-Mills dynamics and gravitational systems as well as their application in the Monte Carlo method.
